Dr Lois Mello Thorpe is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Since qualifying from the University of Manchester in 2019, Lois has gained extensive experience working in mental health services in the NHS and private sector. Lois helps clients to cope with many challenges in their lives such as feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, poor body image, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), grief, and difficulties related to trauma.


Lois currently works part time in the NHS where she provides specialist psychological assessments and interventions for adults with complex mental health difficulties. She regularly works with individuals who struggle with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma.

Lois has a special interest in supporting people who are struggling with eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.


Lois is trained and experienced in using a range of well researched and evidence-based interventions including Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). She is also a practitioner of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing). Lois takes an integrative approach to her work, drawing on her knowledge and experience of different therapeutic models to ensure the right therapy is offered to best meet her clients' unique needs.


Lois is passionate about prioritising the therapeutic relationship with her clients. She strives to create a safe, warm, and non-judgemental therapy space to allow exploration of difficulties, healing, self-acceptance, change, and growth.
