Dr Greg Smith is a Clinical Psychologist who completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leicester and qualified in 2020. With over 14 years of experience working within healthcare, he has extensive experience working with people across the life span and with a range of difficulties. This includes low mood, anxiety and panic, trauma, psychosis, low self-esteem, identity issues, loss and bereavement, and life transitions.

Greg has particular interests in gender identity, neurodiversity, and working with young people and their families. He is passionate about supporting people to navigate their world and challenges within this, including potential implications on their wellbeing. Greg’s approach to therapy is influenced by attachment theory and systemic ideas and he often works within cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic frameworks. He also draws upon compassion-focussed therapy, often to support people to better connect to their emotional experiences. Greg is also an EMDR therapist. EMDR, also known as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a form of psychotherapy that is used to alleviate distress associated with traumatic experiences.

Greg always aims to make therapy accessible to people by learning what an individual’s strengths and interests are and using these to inform interventions that are meaningful. He believes that the therapeutic relationship is integral to any therapy, developing a sense of safety and trust together.
